County Fair

You may have seen our cousin Maggie and Tommy's blog about the fair, so you know we had a great time on Saturday on the rides and spending the day with a bunch of our cousins.  Here are some photos of our exhibits and showing the chicken at the fair.

Waiting for our turn to talk to the judge.
Grace with her blue ribbon on leather craft.
Lucy talking to the judge about her projects.
Grace getting ready to show 'Beauty Queen'.
Grace did great in her first poultry show.  There were thirteen chickens in her class and we learned a lot about what goes into these shows..........blow dryers, baby wipes, vaseline all kinds of primping for these chickens =)
Getting ready to talk to the judge for showmanship.  I should mention this is at 7:30pm and the poultry show started at 9am that morning so we had a really long day at the fair.
Talking to the judge about 'Beauty Queen'.

Horse Update

The girls are loving their horse riding lessons.  They are each riding on their own now.

Grace on Buddy and Lucy on Little Guy.

This was the first night that Grace rode Buddy all by herself and she did great!

1st Fish Weigh-In

Yesterday the girls and I rode down to Alma for the weigh-in for Dave's fishing tournament with his partner, Josh's wife Jenn and their four kids.  The kids had a blast and it is pretty cool to see all those fast boats coming in at the same time.  The guys weighed in a limit and placed around 15th out of 41 (not sure on the final results, we scooted out and stopped at Nelson's Creamery for ice cream =)).

Grace, Lucy, Grace Miller and Alyssa waiting for Dave and Josh's turn to come out of the water.
Dave waiting for Josh to back the trailer in.
It's pretty neat to see them load the boats so quick and drive right out, not quite the way I remember it going as a kid, I feel like that was always the stressful part =).
The Miller boys loading the fish into the weigh-in bag.
Everyone gathered around to see the weight............13.89 lbs.

Fireworks

We had our old neighbors, Whitings, over for dinner on Friday night along with Budrows and Simpsons.  It was great to get the whole group together and see everyone.  Dave stopped and got some fireworks for the girls and it was great ending to a fun day.

Lucy, Camille and Kenzie watching the show, I love the expressions on the older girls' faces =)

Happy 4th of July!

Happy 4th of July!  What a beautiful day.......although it is hard to believe that it is here already. We headed up to the McNamara family cabin today and had a great time.  Here are some photos from our day.  Thanks for having us Pat and Terri!

Grace with our flag fruit pizza.
The kids filling up sand pails.
Grace getting ready to jump off the dock.
Lauren and Lucy were probably in the water the most and really liked the lily pads!
Five of the cousins hanging out together.
This year we decided to have some games for the kids, they did really well and everyone got prizes at the end.  Below is the sponge relay race where they race down and squeeze their sponge into an empty bucket and the bucket with the most water at the end wins.
The three legged race was a pretty big hit especially once they figured out how to work together.
This is the start of the egg on spoon race.  We are happy to report that none of our chicken eggs were broken during the race.
We also did a water balloon toss that Grandpa Tom and Pat got involved in too.
And what party is complete without a pinata?  So, yes the cousins are getting really good at pinata since they just did one at Leyton's party a couple of weeks ago.
Grace taking a swing at it.

Cousins play doctor

Leyton, Cal and Fiona came to swim yesterday and Becky and I were chatting in the kitchen when Dave asked where the baby was, meaning Fiona and we said oh the kids have her.  When we went to check on them Fiona was in the process of having surgery, complete with Lucy's surgery socks and oxygen mask from her latest surgery a couple of weeks ago at Mayo.  It was pretty darn cute and she seemed to be enjoying all the attention even if they were poking and prodding her with fake shots =)
